A few random thoughts, May 7th.
(1) I napped nearly 5 hours today--grief is a tiring business.
(2) I haven't preached since the first Sunday of Lent (and that is entirely too long).
(3) "So What" by Pink is a practically perfect break-up song. It is a bit less triumphal than Dylan's "Most Likely You Go Your Way," but I think it gets the binary nature better (i.e. mood swings). It works just as well for breaking up with the academy, and I played it in the background when I got the the "we don't want you" call from Westmont. I would like to have more bravado and say with Dylan:

"Then time will tell who has fell
And who’s been left behind
When you go your way and I go mine"
And who’s been left behind
When you go your way and I go mine"
Yet, I think the best I can do is:
I ain't a-saying you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right.

(4) I literally waited with anticipation for Scorsese's Silence for the last 6 years, and then I didn't watch it because the reviews were bad. I think that shows a deplorable lack of courage.
(5) I don't think there is any Country singer that has a nicer voice than Willie Nelson. Also, I welcome the idea of a Country Album by Miley Cyrus because her cover of Dylan's "Your Gonna Make me Lonesome When You Go" is beautiful.
